Airport, station, luggage and the last mile can change the answer. The lowest displayed fare is not always the most suitable journey.
For Paris, identify your terminal and destination neighbourhood first. Include the journey to the station or stop, changes and final walk. A train's running time is not the time from landing to your hotel. With a pushchair or wheelchair, verify each part of the route rather than assuming one accessible station makes the whole trip accessible.
Compare the exact station, travel date, baggage, changes, refunds and child reservations. An advance ticket and a flexible departure differ in more than price. For connections, check the transfer margin and whether the booking protects the onward journey. Avoid treating a route's best advertised time as a promise for every departure.
Check operator engineering works and disruption before leaving. Airport tickets and city passes can follow different rules. Plan the late return before booking an activity: a night-time event does not guarantee all-night public transport.
A complete journey combines rules that do not substitute for one another. On a cycling trip, check carriage of the bicycle on every train. In Strasbourg, follow the instructions for the selected CTS ticket format, not an assumed rule for all mobile tickets. Around 25 October, retain the appointment’s date and zone and reread the operator’s information. These guides complement journey comparison without promising cycle space, a guaranteed connection or an actual service departure.
