01

The legal seller determines the first right

A boutique, marketplace and private seller do not create the same contract. Check who receives payment, who appears on the invoice and whether the account is identified as a trader. A marketplace must show whether a seller is a trader or private individual; its checks or badge do not automatically make the platform the seller. Without a coherent identity, address and status, pause payment.

02

Withdrawal, conformity and hidden defects

For distance purchases from a trader, the statutory withdrawal period is generally fourteen days and also covers second-hand goods, subject to exceptions. The legal conformity guarantee concerns trader-to-consumer sales. Do not automatically carry these rights into a private sale: hidden-defect protection may exist, but proof and remedies follow a different route.

03

Evidence is a bundle, never one secret detail

Connect the listing, seller identity, same-name invoice, ownership history, repairs, exact reference and complete object views. A box, card, chip, number, receipt, stitch or isolated photograph may be copied, replaced or misread. The lab measures documentary strength around the transaction; it never declares an object genuine or counterfeit.

04

Record condition before making an offer

Request front, back, sides, base, interior, lining, closure, corners, handles, hardware, markings and every defect in diffuse light. For clothing, add labels, measurements, hems and alterations; for jewellery or watches, the reference, stated weight, movement or suitable report. Obtain written disclosure of odour, moisture, replaced parts, restoration, recolouring and missing accessories.

05

The real budget starts after the asking price

Add commission, payment costs, insured delivery, independent expertise, cleaning, repair and possible import taxes. The calculator predicts neither resale value, fair price nor customs charge: it only totals your visible assumptions. If restoration or tax remains unknown, the total is incomplete; keep the uncertainty as a reason to negotiate or stop.

06

Payment is a recourse decision

Prefer a traceable method and written protection that covers the exact issue you fear. Read deadlines, accepted evidence, exclusions and who decides a dispute before paying. An irreversible transfer, off-platform payment, rushed deposit or cash meeting reduces options. Never send unnecessary identity documents or banking data to a seller.

07

Try, examine and repair

Independent expertise should be separate from the seller and its scope understood: physical examination, images, materials or only a commercial opinion. Before purchase, ask whether the house or a workshop will service the item, without treating acceptance or refusal as certification. Try the item loaded and for realistic time; size, weight, odour, fragility and repairability can defeat an attractive deal.

08

When to stop or move to recovery

Stop if identity changes, requested angles are refused, the invoice cannot be linked to the seller, returns remain verbal, payment must leave the channel or pressure replaces answers. After purchase, keep packaging, listing, messages, payment record, opening video and independent report; then open FRA9’s evidence and recovery route to the relevant official service.

FRA9 · FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the score authenticate the item?

No. It only measures documentary weakness around the offer and replaces no expert examination.

Do I always have fourteen days to return it?

No. Rights depend on factors including a trader seller, distance sale and exceptions; obtain written terms.

Is the platform necessarily my seller?

No. Identify the legal entity concluding the sale and receiving payment.

What does total budget include?

Only entered amounts: price, fee, delivery, expertise, care and possible import cost.

What if I already paid?

Keep all evidence and open FRA9’s evidence and recovery route without unnecessarily altering the item.
