01

Start with level, qualification and country of residence

There is no single application portal for every admission. Parcoursup covers first-year undergraduate entry and many selective courses; Mon Master handles a large share of first-year master's applications; Études en France applies to residents of the 72 participating countries and territories; some programmes keep an institutional portal. A doctorate is built with a doctoral school, laboratory, supervisor and often funding. Before preparing documents or paying anything, identify the target level, exact qualification, nationality, country of residence and school-leaving or prior degree. These facts determine the route more reliably than the applicant's preferred website.

02

Position on 11 September 2026

The 2026 Parcoursup procedure closed on 10 September at 23:59; no new choice or offer can now be made within that campaign. Applicants who accepted a place should follow the institution’s administrative-enrolment instructions and their own account. CAES may continue supporting some eligible applicants left without a place until mid-October, but this is neither a new general application phase nor guaranteed admission. Wait for the official 2027 calendar rather than reusing the 2026 dates.

03

International first-year entry: DAP, Études en France or Parcoursup

A non-European applicant living abroad and seeking first entry to a public licence with a foreign secondary diploma normally uses the preliminary admission procedure. In an Études en France country, including Türkiye, DAP is handled through that platform; outside the network, the white dossier applies. The green dossier covers certain applicants already resident in France. The 2026-27 cycle closed on 15 December 2025, with university replies due by 30 April and applicant decisions by 31 May. Do not copy those dates into 2027-28 before the new official notice appears. BTS, CPGE and other selective programmes usually use Parcoursup instead.

04

Master's: Mon Master and Études en France are not interchangeable

For 2026, Mon Master accepted applications from 17 February to 16 March, ran main admissions from 3 to 16 June and the complementary process from 19 June to 19 July; withdrawal management ended on 30 August. The normal campaign is therefore closed on 5 September. Residents of Études en France countries generally use that procedure for M1, while European applicants and residents outside the network use Mon Master, subject to programme exceptions. Referral to the rector, available in qualifying cases until 28 October, is a regulated remedy for eligible holders of a French national licence who meet the refusal conditions. It is not a general late-application route.

05

Build a programme-specific file

Open the official course record and note its prerequisites, assessment criteria, capacity, fees, language, documents and dates. Transcripts, certificates, required translations, language results, CV, statement or project must answer those requirements. B2 is common for French-taught study, but it is neither universal nor an admission guarantee; a course may require C1, a named test, English evidence, a portfolio, examination or interview. Explain academic progression, relevant skills and the connection to the programme. Reusing one generic statement can miss a mandatory instruction and provides weaker evidence of fit. Save the submitted version and receipt for each course separately.

06

Verify the award and understand recognition

Check the exact award title, awarding institution, academic grade, accreditation and any relevant professional certification record. An ENIC-NARIC comparability statement may help place a foreign qualification when an institution requests it, but it does not convert the degree, create automatic equivalence or grant admission. The institution remains responsible for the academic decision, while regulated professions have separate competent authorities. For engineering or management schools, confirm the programme's official authorisation or degree status with the relevant body instead of relying on the word “recognised” in advertising. Institution recognition and qualification recognition answer different questions.

07

Calculate the full cost before accepting

Separate national tuition, possible differentiated fees, institution charges, CVEC, insurance, housing, deposit, transport, equipment and living costs. Any exemption should be confirmed in writing for the programme, year and applicant category. Search CampusBourses and institutional support, but never count a pending application as secured funding. Compare the city's cost and payment calendar as well as the headline tuition. Admission and student-visa funding are separate checks; for long-stay student visa applications filed from 1 August 2026, France-Visas states a monthly resources threshold of €877.50. The official personalised checklist remains decisive for the individual case.

08

An offer is not final enrolment or a visa

After accepting an offer, meet the institution's administrative enrolment deadline immediately. Prepare identity, diplomas, transcripts, photograph, CVEC certificate where applicable, scholarship evidence and requested insurance; missing the deadline can forfeit the place. Course registration and timetable selection may happen later. Applicants requiring a visa must still use France-Visas and, depending on residence, Études en France. Never pay for a supposed guaranteed admission, faster consular decision or accommodation without a verifiable contract. Keep the offer, payments, receipts, enrolment proof and official messages in a dated file and read every status change on the original portal.

FRA9 · FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which portal should an applicant use in France?

It depends on level, qualification, nationality and country of residence: Parcoursup, DAP/Études en France, Mon Master or the institution's portal.

Can applicants still make Parcoursup choices on 5 September 2026?

Yes, in the complementary phase where places are shown, until 8 September inclusive. Final offers may arrive through 10 September.

Can an applicant in Türkiye still file a 2026-27 DAP?

No. Türkiye uses Études en France and the 2026-27 DAP closed on 15 December 2025.

Does B2 guarantee admission?

No. Each programme sets its language, test and selection criteria; some require C1, another level or additional assessment.

Is university admission enough to travel to France?

No. The applicant must complete enrolment and, where required, obtain a visa with the requested funding and accommodation evidence.
