The building is closed, unambiguously

Centre Pompidou’s Beaubourg building closed to the public on 22 September 2025. Renovation is due to run from 2026, with return to operation announced for 2030. Old guides still selling the external escalator ride or a permanent-collection ticket at this address are obsolete.

02

Why such a long closure?

The project combines asbestos removal, safety, energy performance, accessibility and transformed spaces. This is neither a weekly closure nor a partial building project: the main building is not available as a museum visit during the works.

03

Constellation 2025–2030

The Centre continues through Constellation, with exhibitions, loans, partnerships and events at other venues in France and abroad. There is no single replacement museum: open the official agenda, choose a date and confirm the exact address before buying.

04

Where are the collections?

The Musée national d’art moderne collection has not disappeared, but visibility depends on announced loans, exhibitions and projects. A famous work may be stored, loaned or shown off-site. Never plan around one work without checking the relevant event page.

05

Four Paris alternatives

For modern and contemporary art, compare Musée d’Art moderne de Paris, Palais de Tokyo, Bourse de Commerce–Pinault Collection and Fondation Louis Vuitton. They are separate institutions with their own collections, tickets and calendars; none is a complete Pompidou substitute.

06

What to do around Beaubourg

The neighbourhood remains visitable: the Marais, rue Montorgueil, Forum des Halles, churches and smaller galleries form a sensible walk. Works can alter routes and views around the building; respect barriers and do not schedule the square as an open museum.

07

Tickets and scams to avoid

Do not buy a supposed main-building admission ticket for 2026–2029. For a Constellation activity, the official page should identify the venue, date and organiser. Check refund rules too, because each partner may operate its own ticketing.

08

The next milestone

2030 is the announced return-to-operation horizon, not a guaranteed opening day with tickets already on sale. Construction schedules can evolve. FRA9 will update this canonical page’s status rather than create contradictory versions.
